Shock news really and it doesn't bode well for next gen.
They've developed a good brand with Nintendo Direct, which always delivers nice announcements and gets plenty of coverage - plus people now know to look forward to them.
It's sort of like the E3 keynotes but without the dull stuff we don't enjoy like extensive sales talk, multiplat games, Usher etc.
That's not really surprising, however it is interesting that it's outpacing the Wii as well as PS3 and Xbox 360 over its first four months or so.
HERE WE GO!!
Release it as early in the console's life-cycle as possible and profit massively for the rest of the generation - sounds like a good course of action!
As far as hardcore gaming goes, Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. ;)

I don't think it'll be free, but it'll be revamped with new services.
Release the console at a lower price than PS4 and bingo.
It'll be quite funny if MS and Sony both do backflips to try and have the cheaper console by some negligible margin and to release first by a few weeks..
Like they need any help.
They've recently done a great job bringing back a number of long-dormant franchises - Donkey Kong Country, Punchout, Sin & Punishment, Kid Icarus, Excitebike.
Then people say where's F Zero? Where's Star Fox? Where's Metroid? Where's Wave Race?
Good games > new IPs. Stay the course big N, you're doing super.
Not a headline I expected to read.. can't imagine Wii will overtake again.
